As your Doula you will be my focus, I want to help you feel ready, prepared, confident and excited to birth your baby and navigate those early days postpartum. I will listen to you and ensure you feel heard, I will support and advocate for you and on your behalf if required. I will provide you with sound evidence based information so you can make informed decisions, we will explore your options and talk about your birth wishes, I will ensure your preferences are respected and heard. We can discuss the process of childbirth, pain relief, comfort measures and any fear‘s or concerns you may have. I am also there to help your birth partner feel informed and supported, it’s not my job to take their place - it’s my job to support you both to have a powerful and positive birth experience.
All of them! Whether you’re planning a vaginal birth at home, a midwifery led unit/birth centre, delivery suite or a planned c-section I will support you in any type of birth you choose.
Once you have birthed your little miracle I will be there to support you in any way you require. This can be for emotional support or practical help such as cleaning or cooking, helping you bath baby or support infant feeding. You may desire to debrief your birth experience, you may require other services which i can signpost you to. We can discuss any support you feel that you need during this precious postpartum period.
I am currently awaiting to undertake some training to be an official breastfeeding peer supporter, however i do have experience bottle and breastfeeding my two children. I utilised the support of my local infant feeding team and so I feel I am able to share my knowledge of infant feeding. If you choose to breastfeed I can observe a feed and help with latching and positioning, pumping and hand expressing tips. If you’re formula feeding I can also help with bottle preparation and sterilising. If the help you need is beyond my scope of knowledge and experience I will signpost you to the relevant support groups.
Sadly some births can be traumatic, a birth debrief can be a great way to unpack what happened, express your feelings and just actually be heard. I will be a warm, patient and respectful listening ear to help you through this sensitive session.
I am able to be a chaperone to any appointments regarding your pregnancy, birth or baby that you feel you need support with, this may be at the hospital, GP surgery or somewhere else. I will be there as emotional support for you, I will help to make sure you understand what is discussed so that you can make informed decisions.
For those of you that book my ‘Full Shabang Doula‘ package I am happy to be able to offer you complimentary hire of a la bassine birth pool with thermometer, a TENS machine (pads not included) and a birthing ball. I also provide a birthing comb which will be yours to keep.
- Please note pool liners and hose won’t be included.
